Hey there,
I’m Ceci, the girl behind Wood Lily Studio. By day, I am a high school ELL teacher in Georgia working hard to make sure my kiddos have a safe haven and don’t fall through the cracks. By night, I am just a girl who loves to make things.
I started sewing when I was just a scrawny seven year old and my mom taught me how to use her aqua blue, cast iron Singer to make a little vest out of an old sheet. I was hooked from that moment. Throughout my adolescence my love for making things kept growing and when I went off to college, I studied Apparel Design and Technology. A few years into my career I got my dream job as a Technical Artist at Carters, Inc. in Atlanta. What a ride! I truly enjoyed my creative job, but life is funny and some times throws you curve balls.
In 2007, almost a year after third kiddo was born, it was time to make a change and so I became a teacher (next to momming, the hardest job I’ve ever had). Now that my kids are all mostly grown and flown, I finally have time to dig back in to my true passions as a sewist and creator of things.
Fast forward a bit to March of 2020 when the world shut down. I found myself with lots of home time and not much else…I needed a creative outlet so I decided to pull out my trusty Singer and embarked on my first ever quilt! I. Was. Hooked.
One of these days I’ll write all about it and tell you more, but for now welcome! And thank you so much for joining me on this new adventure!
